Cash is king Our ambitious business owners discussed the critical topic of finance and cash at last month’s Food4Thought dinners. We ranged over all the key areas that small businesses are exposed to when it comes to finances: Getting paid on time – what to do and what not to do How technology can help manage finances Payment terms and what to do about them Access to funding Knowing your numbers and what to expect from your accountant Managing the risk of depending on one large customer As usual, there were lots of ideas and suggestions from around the dinner tables in Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle, with recommendations made for great credit control and debt recovery partners, as well as accountancy technology such as Xero which can save time and make keeping track of your numbers simple.
